METHODIST CHURCH.

THE WILLOWBY CIRCUIT. The quarterly meeting of the Willowby Circuit was held at the residence of Mr G. H. B. Lill. The Rev. W. W. Avery presided over a small attendance. Motions of sympathy in bereavement with the relatives of the late Mr J. Ellis, Mrs S. S. Chapman and Mr E. Bennett were carried in silence. The circuit stewards, Messrs H. C. B. Withell and G. H. B. Lill, were elected representatives to tije Synod to be held in Timaru in November, with Mesdames Lill and Withell as substitutes. Mr and Mrs H. C. B. Withell were thanked for their offer to lend their grounds for a garden party in December, but it was decided not to hold a circuit garden party this year. Miss M. M. Lill gave the usual youth report. Retiring collections for the South Island Orphanage and other deserving causes were authorised. It was announced that the Rev. A. McDowell (South Island Youth Director) would visit Willowby on Thursday, October 29 The invitation of Mr and Mrs H. C. B. Withell to hold the next meeting early in the new year at “Ryeland Grange” was accepted. > Mr Wakelin thanked Mrs and Miss M. Lill for the supper provided.
