RAW MATERIALS.

DELAY IN ISSUING LICENCES. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 21. “At this stage l wouid emphasise the importance of the maintenance of supplies of raw materials,” said Air D. I. Macdonald, secretary of the New Zealand Alanufaeturers’ Association, at the annual meeting of tlie Wellington Alanufaeturers’ Association to-night. “This is tho manufacturers’ biggest worry to-tlay, and 1942 is likely to see the result of delay by Government departments in issuing licences now for essential materials. One day’s delav might mean weeks, or even months, ol 1 hold-up ’ later. “Evidence of the seriousness of the position is becoming available daily. Rapidly increasing prices overseas also mean that less materials are available for each £IOO worth of licence. Manufacturers cannot continue to meet the country’s and the Army’s requirements if these unnecessary delays in issuing licences are not overcome.”
