A Gazette notice states that Second Lieutenant T. G. Beck, 7th (Works ‘Company) New Zealand Engineers, has been granted the rank of major, and appointed Commander, New Zealand Engineers, Southern Division.
Mr C. Ward (Postmaster at Ashburton) will go on annual leave to-morrow. During, his absence, nearly four Weeks, Mr J. N. Ranch, relieving officer, of Wellington, will be acting-Postmaster.
Mrs F.‘ W. Seldon and Mrs ,T. Bathgate, president and secretary, respectively, of the Ashburton Plunket Society, returned to Ashburton over the week-end after attending the annual conference of the Plunket Society at Wellington last week.
Lieutenant J. Trevor Thomas, M. 0., who has been on the Training Staff at Burnham Military Camp for the last six months, returned to Ashburton last week on leave, following an operation in Christchurch for a fractured Achilles tendon. Lieutenant Thomas is Officer Commanding C Company, Reinforcements. N.Z.E.F.
