INFLUENCE!
Influence in motion pictures was embarrassingly revealed at a recent San Francisco luncheon in honour of Lady Halifax, wife of the British Ambassador to Washington. A prominent Frisco “socialite, making a speech of welcome, upset decorum by twice referring to the Ambassador’s wife as “Lady Hamilton.” U.A.’s picture about the lovely lady of the Nelson era had its first run! at a San Francisco theatre some time earlier. Proceedings at the luncheon were recorded by the National Broadcasting Corporation which edited out the touchy portions before transmission over the air. Ordinarily, the goings-on would have been broadcast direct, but facilities were tied up by the more important address of Lord Halifax which' took place simultaneously in another room of the Palace Hotel.
