public notices, ASHBURTON COUNTY COUNCIL. NOTICE OF SPECIAL ORDERS. Notice is hereby ioiyen that the Ashburton County Council, acting in pursuance ot Section 7 ol “The Finance Act, 1039,” at a Special Meeting of tiie Council held on Friday, 3rd October, 1941, passed a resolution by way of Special Order to raise a Loan of Nine Thousand Pounds by way of Special Loan under the Local Bodies Loans Act. 1926, without taking the steps prescribed by Section 9 to 13 of that Act for the purpose of meeting the Council’s share of the additional cost of certain work being carried out by the Public Works Department on the Ashburton River. The Loan shall be known as the Ashburton River Loan, 1941, shall be for a term of twenty years, with interest not exceeding four per cent., and sinking fund three and one-hall per cent. The security for the repayment ol the said Loan and interest and other charges thereon shall lie a Special Rate of four-fourteenths, two-four-teenths, and one-fourteenth of a penny in the £ respectively on the Capital Value of all rateable property within the areas classified A, B and C of the Numbers 1 and la subdivisions of the Ashburton County River District, the boundaries of which subdivisions are described in Special Orders of the Council confirmed on the 6th dav of Mav, 1939, and 6th July, 1910. Notice is also given that the above Council, acting in pursuance of “The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926,’' and “The River Boards Act, 1908,” and “The Ashburton Rivers Act, 1936,” at the meeting held as above, passed a resolution bv way of Special Order making and levying a Special Rate over the Number 1 and the Number la subdivisions of the Ashburton County for tut' purpose of providing the interest and other charges on the above Loan. These resolutions will be submitted for confirmation at the ordinary meeting of the Council to be held at the Council Chambers, Baring Square, Ashburton, on FRIDAY, 7th November, 1941. ICopics of the proposed Special Orders are deposited at the Council Chambers and will be open for inspection of the public during office hours until 7th November, 1941. GEORGE KELLY, County Clerk.
