BLINDED SOLDIER.
RESULT OF ACCIDENT AT WAR. . (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 21. - Believed to be the only New Zealand soldier so far invalided home blinded in the present war, Mr C. H. Humphries, of Carterton, is now in the New Zealand Institute for the Blind, which he entered some weeks ago. The injury which caused his blindness v r as not due to enemy action, but to an explosion in a parcel of detonators as he was lifting it from a truck in August of last year. After hospital treatment he wast sent home. He has already made good progress at Braille type-writing and basket-making, as a preliminary to making a fresh start in some new occupation. His cheerfulness and self reliance have impressed both his fellow-worlcers and the staff of the Institute.
