AUSTRALIAN BUDGET.

MOVE TO APPEASE 1 LABOUR. OPPOSITION WITHIN CABINET. SYDNEY, September 7. An attempt by the Prime Minister (Mr A. W. Fadden) to appease the Labour Party with a compromise Budget is being vigorously opposed by a section of the Cabinet. Tins section, led by Mr R. G. Menzics, claims that Mi - Hadden’s proposal to raise money by credit expansion rather than oy taxation would lead to a spiral rising of prices and inflation. A show-down on the Budget proposals is expected at a meeting of Government parties shortly betore the Budget session. Labour circles state that their leader (Mr J. Curtin) has decided on an election on the Budget .in the belief that it is the only means of resolving the political position. Mr Curtain has advised his supporters to prepare lor this eventuality. This confirms the view held m some ministerial circles that even an appeasement Budget will not prevent a boil-over, which, they say, is inevitable.
