PRISONERS OF WAR.
LETTERS FROM ASHBURTON MEN, NOTIFICATIONS FROM. GREECE. ( Notifications from Ashburton district soldiers who are prisoners of war in the hands of the. Germans have been received in Ashburton to-day. Ope has reached Mrs A. T. Heseltine, of 25 Beach Road, whose two sons wore reported missing in Greece. The notification, consisting of a card written by Private James Heseltine on May 15, states: —
“I am a prisoner of war and I am well and happy. Reg (the writer’s brother) was wounded and ho is being well cared for in a German hospital. Don’t worry, as we are being well cared for. Tell Mrs Hay that Stuart is hero with me.” (The Stuart referred to is Private J. S. Hay, of Ashburton, who was reported missing, and whose brother has already returned from the Middle East.) Mrs E. M. Sullivan, of the. Alain South Road, Tinwald, this morning received a letter, dated June 6, from her son, Private D. V. Sullivan, who was reported a few days previously as being missing in Greece. Private Sullivan is now nursing in a hospital in Greece. He mentions Private Reginald T. Heseltine, who is in hospital and is “improving wonderfully.’'
