COUNTY RACING CLUB. ELECTION OF THE OFFICIALS. The annual meeting of members of the Ashburton County Racing Club was continued after the “Guardian” went to press yesterday afternoon. The- annual report, published yesterday, was adopted. Mr .T. W. Bowden was re-elected auditor. Mr J. H. Grigg said the work of Mr E. R. Easterbrook, as secretary, after taking over from Mr J. B. Nicoll, had been greatly appreciated. A meeting of the new committee was hold after the annual meeting, and Mr Newton was re-elected chairman.

One new member was elected, and two resignations were accepted. A grant of three guineas to the light horse section of the Ashburton Show on November 6-was made. . Mr A. O. Wellwood, of Christchurch, was appointed judge for the Club’s next meeting on September 13. The following officers were elected: President, Mr H. F. Nicoll; vice-presi-dent, Mr E. B. Newton; treasurer, Mr R. Kennedy; programme committee, Messrs E. F. Nicoll, E. B. Newton, H. Morris, H. F. Nicoll, J. H. Grigg, h. S. Harrison; ground committee, Messrs E. F. Nicoll, E. B. Newton, R. JMulligan and H. B. Millichamp;’ handicapper, Mr C. E. Hassell; starter, Mr A. J. Hastings; clerk of the scales. Mr A. O. Pilbrow; clerk of the course, Mr P. L. Donald; honorary timekeepers, Messrs F. B. Robilliard, R, Shcarlhan and IT. B. Millichamp.

Messrs F. V. Piper and F. S. Cowan were appointed to vacancies on the committee. (
