SOLDIER HONOURED.

FUNCTION AT EALING. The Ealing Hall was crowded with relatives and friends at a. recent function held in honour of Gunner ian Holland, who was on leave from Papakura.

Air H. C. B. Withcll presided and on behalf of the residents presented Gunner Holland with a fountain pen and pencil set and a. soldier’s hold-all. Mr Cross, Lowcliffe, spoke on behalf of the Coldstream Cricket Club and handed to the guest of honour a fountain pen. The Rev. A. B. Moflatt, of Hinds, referring to the interest'Gunner Kelland had taken in church activities, wished him God-speed and a safe return and presented to him a parcel of comforts from the Minds Patriotic Society. The best wishes of the Hinds Football and Tennis Clubs was conveyed by Mr King, and Mr J. C. Guinness spoke on behalf of the returned soldiers of the district.

A complete sot of woollen comforts from the Ealing Ladies’ Patriotic Guild was presented to Gunner Holland by Mrs J. W. With ell. On behalf of the Women’s Institute, the president (Mrs Tv. ,1. Mackenzie) presented to Mrs Kelland a slumluer spray and a. gift from the members and to Master John Holland a picture book. Music for dancing was supplied by Mr Karl Kelland and Mr R. Good was M.C.
