The first detailed description of it Hitler’s “circus” from which his High . /Command communiques are issued is given by the “Evening Standard’s” •;.o.diarist. He says it is a train of six coaches, which is the centre of a vast organisation. Hitler occupies one coach and his secretaries another. -• . The four remaining coaches contain a radio transmitter, a kitchen, and v accommodation for Hitler’s staff. One coach is an anti-aircraft station, complete with heavy guns. Hitler’s two principal secretaries are girls—Christa Schroder, petite - and blonde, and Wanda Daranowsky, massive arid brunette. Wanda is of • Polish descent and speaks Russian. Sitting beside Hitler she listens to the Russian broadcasts, translating to the Fuhrrer as she listens. The train is constantly on the move from one section of the front to another. It is always carefully guarded by tanks, wliiqh patrol the neighbourhood, while an air squadron cruises 1 overhead. If a suitable house is found in the neighbourhood, Hitler moves into it. But he rarely stays anywhere longer than 48 hours when at the front.
