JAPAN AND WAR IN PACIFIC. RELATIONS WITH AMERICA. TOKIO, July 7. A spokesman for the Japanese Navy, Rear-Admiral Nayoda, has given a warning against the spread of the war to the Pacific. He said: “Should the United States secure new bases in the North Pacific, as in the Atlantic, Japan’s security would be. shaken to the ground. But the Japanese Nayy is prepared for any emergency.” l Alluding to the strengthening of United States naval .and air bases, ho said: “Coincident with the Nother- i lands East Indies, Australia, Now Zealand, and the Pliilippines all rallying under the American banner solely against Japan, America’s intention to aid Russia must also command Japan’s serious attention.”

The Japanese Domei News Agency reported to-day that the Emperor’s audiences with high Government officials, including separate audiences with the Prime Minister (Prince Konoye) and the Ministers for War and the Navy in the last few days, have culminated in a new trend in Japanese politics.
