Every year more sheep were being treated against the disease. Mr A. Douglas, of the Stock Division of the Department of Agriculture, Ashburton, told a “Guardian” reporter this morning. In sonic eases farmers in the County already liqve ewes six weeks old, lie said, * but generally lambing would not- start for a time yet. Mr Douglas stated lie knew that about 5000 ewes wore vaccinated last yea? and he anticipated that this season the number would probably roach SOOO to 9000. He pointed out that the cost of treating 1000 owes could be made up in lie saving of only a mere handful of lambs, about 10 to 15.
