TARGETS IN BELGIUM RAIDED. ATTACKS ON TWO CONVOYS. ONE SHIP AND ESCORT SUNK (Roc. ll'n.m.) LONDON, July 7. An Air Ministry communique *says: “Royal Air Force heavy bombers, escorted by fighters, attacked aircraft works near Meaulto, near Albert (Belgian). and a power station and chemical factory near Betliuno. Both targets wore hit by powerful bombs ana many incendiaries. The escort shot down seven enemy fighters. Three ot our fighters were lost, hut two pilots wore rescued from the sea. “Bomber Command Blenheims attacked a strongly-escorted convoy oi eight enemy ships—from 2000 to 8000 tons—off the Dutch coast. Six ships were Hit by bombs. Coastal’ Command Blenheims attacked another enemy convoy off Calais, one vessel of 3000 tons and an escorting E L boat being, sunk. “From those operations three aircraft of the Bomber Command and one of the Coastal Command is missing.”
