AIR RAIDS ON BRITAIN. LITTLE DAMAGE REPORTED. SMALL NUMBER OF CASUALTIES. (United Press Association— Copyright / (Roc. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 18. The Air Ministry says: “Enemy activity over Britain last night was on a small scale. A few bombs werq dropped one one or two points in the east of England. Little damage and a small number of casualties are reported from one plane.

OPERATIONS BY DAY. ONLY SLIGHT ACTIVITY. LOSSES OF PLANES COMPARED. (Roc. 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, May 18. A communique states: “There has been some slight activity by enemy aircraft round our coasts in daylight to-day, but none were .flown inland. There were no reports up to 7.30 p.m. of any bombs having been dropped.” . Axis aircraft losses for the week ending at. dusk yesterday totalled 111. Over Britain and around tho British coasts Germany lost 68 planes and tho R.A.F. lost three. .

Over Germany and occupied territory the Germans lost eight planes and the R.A.F. 21. In the Middle East the Axis losses totalled 13 in the air and 22 on the ground, while the R.A.F. lost 14. The Navy, meanwhile, has announced that 16 enemy aircraft were destroyed by his Majesty’s ships in the Mediterranean between May 6 and 12, one was destroyed by his Majesty’s ships on May 14, and one is now confirmed as having been destroyed by a naval ship.

The Minister of Home Security announces the following figures, for. civilian . casualties during air raids on tho United- Kingdom .in April:— Killed—6oss (men 2912, women 2418, children under 16, 680, unclassified 55). Injured and detained in hospital—--6920 (men 3509, women 2748, children under 16 519). In addition, G 1 are missing and believed killed, of whom 48 are men, six women, and seven children.
