FAILED TO PRODUCE TICKET. j
MAN FINED FOR DRUNKENNESS.
William O’Reilly, a native of Ireland, aged 50, employed by the Public Works Department at Ealing, appeared in the Ashburton Magistrate’s Court this morning on two charges. On the Bench were Messrs A. H. Penn and W. H. Amos, Justices of tho Peace. Charged with having boon found drunk in a railway carriage yesterday while travelling from Timarh to Christchurch. accused pleaded guilty and wasi convicted and fined £l. Cii a second charge of having neglected to produce a ticket immediately it was called for by the guard, O’Reilly, who again pleaded guilty, was convicted and ordered to pay 2s 7<l, the fare, plus booking fee from Ealing to Ashburton. Senior-Sergeant Cleary said that accused liad actually had a ticket to Ealing, but in his drunken state had not been able to find it. A first offending inebriate was convicted and discharged.
