SLIGHT FROST THIS MORNING. .s . . Although normally Ashburton would have experienced several frosts by now the first, in accordance with the now reading, was registered last night, being of "two degrees intensity. lee was soon for the first time in Ashburton yesterday. Conditions at. noon to-day ivero dull and chilly. The maximum and minimum temperatures for the 24 hours up to 9 o’clock this "morning wore ol .9 and 30.0 degrees compared with 52.0 and 32.4 degrees during,-the previous period. _ " The barometer stood at 29.70 inches this morning having risen from 29.65 yesterday.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST, (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist at noon to-day issued the following statement regarding the weather- . >■ ■ A weak disturbance is passing to the south of the South Island, while an anti-cyclone is moving on to northern New Zealand.
The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate variable winds. "Weather fair and later becoming fine. ; Cold night with frosts. Day temperatures becoming milder. Seas moderate with decreasing southerly swell.
