THE DOMINION CONTEST.
ARR ANGEMENTS IN ASHBURTON
The main attraction in A shinin'ton during the Easter holiday will be the championship of the New Zealand Harmonica Bands’ Association. Seven senior bhnds—-Port Chalmers, Timaru Women, Timaru Men, Ashburton Imperial, Skippers, St. Aimes, and Enter-prise—-will compete in the contest that is to he held in the Domain on Sunday afternoon.
The Port Chalmers Band is expect-/ ed to arrive by train at 3.30 to-momnv afternoon. - They will be met at the station by officials of the contest committee and the Ashburton Imperial Band. The visiting hand and the Ashburton band will 'then march, to the Orange Hall, where the visitors will- receive a welcome from the president of the contest committee (Mr G. D. H. HefFord). At 7.30 in the evening both bands will assemble -at the Post Office and march to the Orange Hall, where the Ashburton Imperial Harmonica Band will hold a carnival dance. Representatives of the Timaru, St. Amies and Skippers’ Bands will attend. After the contest on Sunday afternoon the Port Chalmers and 1 Ashburton bands will take part in .i patriotic concert in St. James Theatre. The (Port Chalmers Band will leave here on the' south-bound express on ; Monday moirning.
The officials for the contest are: — President, Mr G. D. H. HefFord; supervisor, Mr J. Young; timekeepers, Messrs N. Robilliard and J. Jeffries: marshal, Air J. Oairney; pace-keeper, Mr G. 3>. H. HefFord; military judges, Sergeant-Major Moffat, SergeantMajor J. R. Wilkie and Lieutenant Ei. J. Wood; adjudicator, Mr L. Sutton; secretary, Air .T. H. Hughes.
