INCREASED ROLL.
THE TINWALD SCHOOL.
PROSPECT OF HIGHER GRADING.
The roll number showed an increase of IT on this time last year and there was a good prospect of the school being raised a. sub-grade next year, it was reported at a meeting of the Timvald School Committee last evening. There were present Messrs J. 11. Harper (chairman), A. Wake-1 in (secretary), 11. A. Mefnnes, F. Aldridge and J. Ward. The chairman reported that Mr T. J. Bell had relinquished his position on the committee as lie does not reside in the school district and no longer has children attending the school. The committee’s appreciation of Mr Boll’s valuable work for the school was placed on record.. Mr J. B. Stevenson was appointed 1 to fill the vacancy. ‘ Permission was granted to the T'inwnld Women's Basketball Club to use the school grounds for practices. The matter of •obtaining firewood was left to the secretary, who was also instructed to write to the Education Board pointing out that the drain: recently repaired was still unsatisfactory. Thanks wort: extended to the staff, particularly Miss Davidson and Mr Williams, lor the efficient manner in which the work of the scliool had been carried on during the absence of the headmaster. •
The chairman stated that cn his recent visit the school inspector had commented very favourably on the school and grounds.
