WELLINGTON, April 2. “Definitely, .the Christian Pacifist Sopiety is not only a public nuisance, hut also a public menace and liable to create disorder and tumult as a result of its persistence in going on Avith its subversive activities—l use the Avord ’subversive’ in its legal sense,” said Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Magis trate’s Court, in imposing sentence, of three months’ hard labour oil David William Silvester, a. clerk, aged 28 years, avlio avus charged with obstructing Superintendent Lopdell in the execution of his duty.
Oil a charge of conducting a meeting prohibited under the provisions of. the Public Safety Emergency Regulations, Silvester pleaded not guilty and Avas committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
