GERMAN MECHANISED UNITS RECONNAISSANCE IN LIBYA. (Rec. 12.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 2. It is stated in London that the movement of German mechanised units in Libya'are in the nature of a reconnaissance to test the British strength.

ERITREA AND ABYSSINIA SOUTH AFRICANS’ SUCCESS (Rec. 12.5) LONDON, April 2. A communique issued by Royal Air Force Headquarters in the Middle East states: “The Royal Air Force continues its active support to the successful operations of our ground forces in Eritrea. South African fighters intercepted and drove off a- number of Snvoia 79’s in the Asmaya area. One had its Avheels down as if to land and the engine of another was in flames. “In Southern Abyssinia, aircraft of the South African Air Force attacked enemy, communications and defences and A r arious kinds of transport hctAA een AAvash and Asmara. Alotor transport Avas also bombed and machine-gunned at many other places. “Enemy aerodromes in Tripolitahia Avcve bombed yesterday by our aircraft. ‘•‘From all these operations out aircraft returned safely, Avith one exception.”—British Official Wireless.
