THE WEATHER.
SUNNY WITH NORTH-WEST WIND
A blustering north-west wind blew in Ash,burton this afternoon,, and conditions were for tho most part sunny, although the sky contained some sentjfered clouds. Very mild conditions prevailed last night. A short sharp shower of rain fell this morning, one point being recorded up to O' o’clock. A moderate wind then blow until after noon. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 73.7 and 52.4 degrees, while on Tuesday they were 67.7 and 47.7. Tiie barometer reading was 29.12 inches this morning against 29.66 inches vesterdav.
TO*DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Tho Government Meteorologist at noon to-day issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General situation: ®Thn situation is still of the westerly type with deep depressions passing" in the south. The forecast for the east const of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows :
Fresh to strong winds varying between north - westerly and southerly. Weather cloudy and warm with intermittent rain in the Alps and extending for brief periods to the Plains. Seas rough offshore.
