ALLEGED NEGLECT.
SOLDIERS INVALIDED HOME (P.A.). AUCKLAND, April 1. An allegation that a party of invalided soldiers, including Auckland men, who landed at Wellington lately, received no hospitality or welcome of any kind, was made by Air T. AlcNab at a meeting of the Auckland Aletropolitan Patriotic Executive. “They were mostly pretty sick men,” said Mr AlcNabb. “They riad been very well treated at Australian ports on the way out, but, according to what I have been told, when they arrived at Wellingtonl there was no one to meet them.
“They were put ashore at 1 p.m. with instructions to report to Base Records at 2.30 p.m. There, they were given rail warrants and told that they could leave for their homes.” The executive decided to ask the Provincial Patriotic Council, to make a. request to the patriotic authorities at Wellington that meals and transport should he provided for Auckland men arriving in future drafts, and the cost charged to the Auckland Patriotic Fund.
