TEACHERS HONOURED.

PRESENTATION'S, AT HINDS A successful dance was held in the Hinds Centennial Hall on Saturday evening in aid of school funds and to farewell Miss M. L. 'White, who is leaving the Hinds School to take up a position at Qrari, and Miss M. McConnell, who is now at the Willowby School.

Mr J. Davidson (chairman of the School Committee) presided and spoke of the services rendered by Miss White, who had spent four years teaching in the Hinds School, and by Miss McConnell, who was there last year. Mr McDonald (headmaster) thanked the two teachers for their efficient work and co-operation. Mr H. White presented the guests of the evening with shoulder sprays.’ Mr H. Bell presented a hanging mirror to Miss White and a. cup, saucer and plate to Miss McConnell. On behalf of the Women’s Institute Mrs Rickard presented Miss White with the Institute teaspoon and spoke of the valuable work of Miss White both as member and president. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mr P. Taylor. Extras were played by Mr W. Chapman. Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Miss D. Dell and Mir C. Reid, and by Miss J. Reddecliffe and Mr F. Clark. Mr S. Lowe was master oi ceremonies.
