TRUCKS DERAILED.
MISHAP NEAR GREYMOUTH. (P.A.) GREYMOUTH, Mar. 7. A goods train, mostly laden with timber, from Hokitika, had eight of 33 vehicles derailed near Sawyer’s Creek bridge, Greymouth, at 4.20 p.m. this afternoon. The eighth truck from the rear jumped the lines 200 yards from the Ivaroro Station, loosening the rails but passing over Sawyer’s Creek bridge with only three inches to spare on one edge. The following trucks spread the linos apart, and the guard’s van and rear truck becamo uncoupled, partly overturning down the bank, three trucks of cement and two vans of perishables being the first derailed. Another truck broke the couplings, and also left the line. None of the vehicles was greatly damaged, but the lines and sleepers will require renewal and repairs, which are expected to take till midday tomorrow. Meantime the rail-car is unable to pass from the Hokitika side, | being to-night replaced on the Mid-J land run by a steam train.
