ATHLETICS.
ALLENTON SCHOOL SPORTS. A SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON. A successful athletic sports gathering was held at the AUenton School yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance of parents, who took a keen interest in the sports and generously patronised the stalls, which produced a gross sum of £23 17s 10d, a much better figure than last year. White House, with 100 points, was the winner of the -athletic competition. Red House was second, with 64, and Blue House third, with 47. The chairman of the School Committee (Mr E. C. Bathurst) presented the cups as follows: Herbert Smith Cups, for swimming: Senior girls, Adele Burton; junior girls, Shirley Barr; senior boys, D. McCrea and I. Taylor; junior boys, Cliff Burton and John Burton. House Cup, for athlete with most points in winning house: Noel Lochhead. The headmaster (Mr J. Southward) addressed the children .and thanked parents for their support. ' The stalls were in charge of the following: Ice-cream and drinks, Mrs C. Burton; sweets, Mesdames J. Cowans and A. Argyle; refreshments, Mesdames G. Knox, B. J. Evans, W. Bart; cakes, Mesdames H. Stevens and RTurnbull; produce, Mesdames G. H. Rollinson and J. Southward.
