QUESTION OF MORE PRODUCTION COUNCIL REQUIRE? LEAD. “The majority of farmers are wondering whether they should go understocked/’ said Mr T- V. Wilkinson at a meeting of the Mid-i Canterbury Primary Production Council yesterday. He urged the need for a general survey of the whole position as conditions had changed very greatly. It was quite justifiable to ask for the growing of more wheat and linenflax but something definite tvas required before the raising of" more sheep was pressed for. “Not a single lamb more should be produced than call be got rid of,” said Mr Wilkinson Mr R. G. Gerard suggested holding the matter over as negotiations on tjie subject were in progress. tVIr H. L .Chisnall said that a lead wag required from the National Primary Production Council. It was decided to write to the Council on those lines, Mr Gerard said it w T as rather difficult for the Government. Meat was needed overseas, but the shipping problem was stopping it from geting there. "While he wvmld not like the Government to be asked for .any guarantee it could be asked whether production should bo continued.
