Workers’ Training Emergency Regulations, 1941, gazetted to-night, for the setting up. of a (Dominion AuxilisiryWcrkers’ Training Council to formulate and. recommend training scheme's at technical schools and elsewhere for training auxiliary workers, to put into operation any approved scheme, to arrange for the establishment of local councils, and to co-ordinate their activities, to arrange for the placing of auxiliary workers in industry on the completion of their training, and to follow their progress after they enter industry. The council will comprise such re pvrsentativos of employers, workers, and Government departments as the Minister for Labour thinks fit, the chairman to lie appointed by the Minister. The regulations further provide for the appointment by the Minister, on the recommendation of the council, of a salaried organiser of emergency training to direct the work, arid for the establishment, where required, of local councils. The regulations specify that an auxiliary worker on the completion of training will not he engaged while there is a qualified worker in the same class out of employment on the register of the local union, and no qualifiei worker will* he dismissed because an auxiliary worker has been engaged.
