THE SOUTH CANTERBURY tourney. The A grade competitions at • the South Canterbury Croquet tournament have reached their 'concluding stages. In the final of the championship doubles Mr and Mrs Kirk beat Mrs Cleary and Mrs Pettigrew, 26-21. In the semi-final of the A grade championship, Mrs Pettigrew beat Mrs Gabies 26-14, while in the final of the first life Mrs Cleary beat Mrs Pettigrew 26-15, and in the final of the
second life Mrs H. Thompson beat Mis Kirk 26-6. . Results of the B and C grade matches in which Ashburton players took part were: —• Handicap Singles—Mrs O’N'eill beat S. K. Martin 26-12. B Grade Championships—Mrs Chapman beat Mrs Turnbull by default; S. K. Martin beat Mrs Foxon 26-12-; Mrs Stev'ens beat Mrs Turnbull 26-11. First Life Championship—Mrs Bridges beat Mrs Turnbull 26-5; Mrs W. J. Taylor beat Mrs Bellows 26-22. Second Life Championship Mrs Flintoff beat Mrs Turnbull 26-21, Mrs Boothroyd beat Mrs Flintoff 26-21. ASHBURTON CLUB DRAW •The draw for matches of the Ashburton Croquet Club to-morrow are as follow: 1 At 2.30 p.m. —Mesdames Gilchrist and Moore v. Mesdames Bell and Robinson; Mesdames Heennn and Christie v. Mrs Bond and Miss Bond; Mesdames Saunders and Biggar v. Mesdames Cowan and Meddins. At 4 p.m.—Mrs Buxton and scorer v.
