CIVILIAN SERVICE IN BRITAIN. (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, February 19. Colonial artisans and technicians are being recruited for service in civilian capacities in the United Kingdom and the first party of 49 Jamaican artisans has already arrived. VICTIMS OF BALLOON BARRAGE. * THREE DOWN IN EIGHT DAYS' TWO FALL TO OUN CREWS' (Received This Day, 11,45 a.m.) LONDON, February 19. Including the enemy raider brought down by collision Avith a balloon cable, as announced in tho Air Ministry communique, the balloon barrage destroyed three night raideys in eightdays this month, states the Air . Ministry Ncavs Service. The other two were shot down by gun crews of the balloon barrage. The first bomber crashed into the balloon cable. The engines of the raider failed after a fierce flash; was seen in the sky and the aircraft fell .into the sea. Three nights later the crew of the barrage opened fire on enemy bombers. Immediately there Avas an explosion and a- sheet of flame, and the aircraft dh'ed into the sea about a mile and a half JiAA'ay. Another balloon barrage brought doAvm a third bomber five- nights later. The gmi cA'cav held their fire until the aircraft Avas directly overhead, when they opened Up and hits were registered on the raider. Shortly afterwards the bomber burst into flames and crashed. Although they normally work on balloons, the crow of a. balloon barrage are trained in gunnery. —British Official Wireless.
