SWIMMING.

THE METHVEN CLUB. At a meeting of the committee of the Methven Amateur Swimming Club on Tuesday evening the president (Mr It. Parsons) presided oyer a full attendance. ” It was decided to hold a club carnival to-morrow evening. The following programme was arranged: 25 yards schoolboys handicap, 25 yards schoolgirls handicap, 25 yards ladies’ handicap, 25 yards men’s handicap, 50 yards club handicap, ladies’' dive, men’s dive, school children’s dive, and dual relay. The following officials were appointed: Starter and announcer, Mr M. A. Stone; judges, Messrs R. B. Hart, R. Parsons and J. 0. Riddell; time-keep-ers, Messrs T. S. Harrison and Les Reid; heat stewards, Messrs N. Dawe and A. R. 'Gourley; result steward, ’Mr A. Owen; check starter, Mr J. Wootton; ladies’ stewards, Misses H. Petrie and N. Kelliher and Mrs H. J. Freeman.

It was als> decided to hold a novelty club carnival on Thursday, January 16. It was agreed to allow school children to use the baths between 6 and 7 p.m. (except on carnival evenings) and from 2 to 4 p.m on Sundays, provided they are accompanied by * parent or guardian. Messrs M. A. Stone,- A. Owen, A. Oook, M. Prestney, S. Stone, R. Parsons, A. R. Gourley and N. Dawe were appointed as bath supervisors for Sundays from January 12 to March 2.
