VALONA AGAIN BOMBED ITALIAN AIRCRAFT DOWNED

(United Press Association—Copyrights (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, January 1. A Royal Air Force Middle East communique says: “During Monday night air attacks were made on Taranto and Naples. In addition, our aircraft bombed Palermo harbour and a chemical factory at Crotonne. At Taranto, naval units were the objective, and 11 bombs were seen to burst round the target. “Valona was raided’ yesterday for the twenty-third time. The weather was bad, but all the bombs were observed to fall in the target area and considerable damage was caused. “Enemy fighters intercepted our aircraft arid in the ensuing engagement one of the enemy was badly damaged. None of ours failed to return to its base. “Our fighters, while on patrol on Monday, shot down another Cant Z 506, additional to the one claimed in yesterdays communique.
