CLIMBER’S FEAT.

THREE PEAKS IN ONE DAY WELLINGTON WOMAN’S RECORD. WANGANUI, This Day. When Miss Ngaire Horton, of Wellington, elimed Rluapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro in: 22 'hours this week, she established a. women’s record for the National Park, no other woman having climbed the three peaks in one day. Accompanied hv Guide Kirk Johnston, Miss Horton left the Chateau at midnight and wtis back by 10 p.m. the following night. She reached the summit of Ruapehu .by sunrise, the peak of Ngauruhoe by midday, and the top of Tongariro late in the afternoon, coming on to the flat by tliji Mangetepopo Hilt. Conditions were excellent.

(Hie National Park record for climbing the three peaks in a day is held by Mr J. Townsend (Wellington), who did the climb.in 19 houys about three years ago.
