ITALY AND THE WAR.

BRITISH MINISTER’S COMMENT.

LONDON, December 18

What Italy was called on to face in the last war and what she had to face in this one was outlined by the Minister for Economic Warfare (Mr Hugh Dalton) in a broadcast speech last night.

Ho said that the Italians knew in their hearts that they were fighting on the wrong side, and that was the reason why their troops were surrendering. Even the Alpini, the crack troops of the Italian Army, were surrendering in Albania. In. the last war _they had never surrendered, but liad died like heroes defending their country. “It is not Italy’s war, hut Mussolini’s war,, and lie knows lie faces defeat,” said Mr Dalton.
