CONGESTION AT ASHBURTON /

COUNTY COUNCIL’S COMPLAINT

The Ashburton County Council today carried a motion drawing the attention of the Post and Telegraph Department to the crowded state of the Ashburton Post Office. Mr H. J. Crothers said that a. state of congestion existed and had not improved of late. Ratepayers coming into town: on Tuesdays and: Fridays, and desiring to get home as soon as possible, had to wait for long periods owing to the queues waiting at the counters. • , Mr J. Carr pointed out that duping the Inst 10 years the business controlled by the Post- Office had increased tremendously.

It was stated that an assurance had been given that the Post Office building would be' reconstructed 1 , hut nothing had been done in the matter yet.
