Mr Grigg congratulated the children on the splendid tone of the school, and urged them to continue to have a pride in the school, which' was laying the foundation of their education. Each child was the recipient of a book, and in addition, the following special prizes’ were presented:—Dux (ex-pupil’s gold medal), Joyce Belcher; dux boy (silver medal), Allan Pearson; original poem, Rachael Latimer; tennis ' championships—Senior girl, Shirley Cocks; senior boy, Russell Read; junior girl, Mildred Read; junior boy, James Crossman. Singing—Senior girls, Joyce Belcher; senior boys, Gilmour Blee and Neville Hawkins (equal); junior girls, Elaine Belcher ; junior boys, GeorgeMoore. Gardening—Senior, Allan Peay- ... son; junior, Terrance Daly. Sewing—*• Forms I and II: Iris White; Standard 4, Margaret Prendergast; Standards 2 and -3, Doreen McKibbon; Standard 1, No In Moore.
At the close of the prize-giving, senior children, in happy speeches, thanked the teachers for the interest they had shown in the children and presented them with tokens of their esteem.
