“THE GREAT VICTOR HERBERT.”
For its music, this picture is right out in front. The story does not bring in a great deal of Herbert’s biography, but it welds together the magnificent outflow of melodious song that is given in most generous measure from the treasury of art left by “the great Victor Herbert.’’ Allan Jones’s fine voice has its best chance in this film, and it is noted, too, for the debut from t-lie stage of Mary Martin, charming and talented and of the amazing fourteen-year-old songstress, Susanna Foster. Walter Connolly gives a perfectly superb portrait of the great composer and conductor, even being said to physically resemble him to an . extraordinary degree.
