POPULATION AND PRODUCTION.

(Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, December 18. Population and production would lie outstanding problems after the war, said the Leader of the Opposition, (Mr S. G. Holland) interviewed after his arrival to-day on his first visit to the north since tio was api>ointe«d leader. Mr Holland advocated a courageous policy for increased settlement and development. He said that population was essential for defence as well as for y economic reasons. He did not think there would be a. marketing problem after the war, as Britain was likely to take all New Zealand could produce. Mr Holland said in order to transfer soldiers back to civilian pursuits after the war, training cam ns would be used to train men in a wide variety of industrial pursuits.
