A German bomber was shot down off Dover this afternoon without loss to British aircraft. This is the only incident reported in the Air Ministry and Home Security communique.—British Official "Wireless.

ESCAPE OF 1400 OCCUPANTS AIR. RAID TOLL ON POLICE . (Received This Day, 1.1.40 a.m.)LONDON, December IS. Bombs recently hit the Strand Palace Hotel, in which 1400 people were living. It shattered windows and caused water to cascade down the stairs from a burst tank on the roof. There were no casualties. Fifty-four police officers and men have been killed and 332 injured in air raids on London. A German communique claims successful air raids were made on Birmingham and London on. Monday night.
