TIBETANS SHOOT INTRUDERS.
MISSIONARY 7 MURDERED

Tibetan bandits have murdered the only Christian missionary avlio succeeded in penetrating the jealouslyguarded stronghold of Buddhism. The missionary, Pere Nussbaum, Avas captured, robbed and shot in cold blood Avhile returning to his post on the Tibetan border after visiting Yunnan province in China.
With the murder of Pere Nusbaum, Tisbet becomes once more a land of Lamas, thousands of Avhom, in monasteries scattered throughout the mountainous, quasi-independent Chinese province, hold almost complete pOAver 0A r er the people and permit foreigners lo enter only in exceptional circumstances. Although Pore Nussbaum succeeded in penetrating Tibet, his presence Avas not Avelcome to the Lhassa Government, wlxo made it knoAvn that Christian missionaries Avere undesirable Per& Nussbaum, says the British-OAvned “North China Daily NeAvs,’’ is the second Frenchman to be murdered by Tibetan brigands in the past month. A dispatch to the neAvspaper from Tachien, in Szechuan, records the murder of another man in the Avild Golok country, near the frontier. Tavo Frenchmen, M. Liotard and M. Guiyaut Avere ambushed by the brigands as they Ayere attempting to cross the frontier into Tibet. In the course of the gunfight M. Liotard Avas shot dead, M. Guiyaut escaping Avith the majority of the coolie porters.
