GUTTED BY FIRE.
COASTGUARD HEADQUARTERS.

Damage to the extent of £7OO was caused by fire at the headquarters of the New Zealand Coastguard Service (incorporated) in Beresford Street early this morning. The back portion of the wooden building was gutted, and the secretary’s office, with all the records, was destroyed. None of the equipment or plant was insured.
