RED CROSS SOCIETY.
ACTIVITIES AT MOUNT SOMERS. The Mount Somers sub-centre of the Red Gross Society at a meeting held in the library on Monday evening when Miss J. Stevenson presided, decided to co-operate with the Women’s Institute, and that future meetings be held on Institute day. Mesdames L. H. Ruddock and R. MeCalhim Avere added to the committee.
Arrangements for the patriotic concert to be held on Friday were finalised.
The secretary (Mrs R. Goodrich) reported that since the sub-centre had been formed in May it had sent to the Society 162 knitted garments, 255 articles of clothing had been forwarded to the Lady Galway Guild, 23 pairs of knitted socks had been given to local soldiers, and 18 Christmas parcels had been forwarded. A parcel avos being sent each month alternatively to the Army, Air Force and Navy. The resignation of Miss Steven soil, Avlio is leaA r ing the district, as president Avas accepted with regret, and a motion placing on record appreciation of her valued services Avas carried. Mrs D. W. Herron was appointed president.
