COMMITTEE AT LAURISTON. t

Nineteen, persons were enrolled in the Home Guajrd when a meeting to form a committee was held at Lauriston last evening. There was a good attendance and Mr H. T. Crothers was voted to the chair. The chairman of the County Council (Mr S. P. Taylor), the County Clerk (Mr G. Kelly), and the Area Commander (Captain E. A. Oockroft) addressed the meeting, explaining the purposes and organisation of the Home Guard.

It was unanimously-*decided that a platoon be formed at Lauriston and that for the purposes of organisation Lauriston should be joined to Methven. The following committee was appointed :—Messrs W. E. Smith, J. B. Daly, J. Mackie, H. T. Crothers, S. Lemon, A. Goodwin, J. Hillyer, G. Letham, C. A. Fyfe, T. Stapleton, 0. E. 'Hooper, and D. MoFarlaue. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr Crothers was elected chairman and Mr McFarlane secretary.
