TWO AWARDS.

JOHN BELL SCHOLARSHIPS. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES. -Graeme Hewson, of Anarna, and Irwin Millar, ! of the Borough School, Ashburton, have been awarded John Bell Memorial Scholarships, it was announced to-day. The scholarships, of which two at least are given annually, are of a value of £lO a. year for a period of two years. They are tenable at the Ashburton High School, and a condition is that the candidate must be prepared to take an agricultural course in its entirety.

To gain the award, candidates must undergo an examination and the final selection is made by •a. committee of five prominent persons.
