THE HOME GUARD.
SECOND PARADE HELD.
INSTRUCTORS START DUTY. There was a large muster of members of the Ashburton Company of the Home Guardi last evening,, when tlie second parade was held. A number of new members were sworn in and enrolments amounted to 25, bringing the strength to 245. Among the new members were several younger than the average among enrolments in the first stages of the organisation. Major E. H. Orr was in charge and the Area Commander (Captain E. A. Cockroft) was in attendance. The company was divided into groups, eacli in charge of an instructor. Most of the men drilled in the grounds of the Drill Hall, while one squad worked l in the Borough School grounds. Elementary drill was undertaken.
The instructors so far appointed are Messrs H. G. Kemp, H. A. Vezey, E. B. Condcll, C. J. Bonnington, J. Grierson, J. B. Pearson, W. G. Welsh, L. L. Aitken. J. T. Thomas, O. Vial, R. M. McGregor. H. AY. Sherratt and J. R-. Wilkie.
