PERSONAL.
Sympathy with the Ashburton Borough Council in the death, of Dr. G. I. Miller was received by the Council last evening • from tine Palmerston North City Council, and the Temuka and tipper Hutt Borough Councils.
Messrs J. Thompson (chairman of the Domain Committee) and I>. H. Leigh (Domain Curator) were last evening appointed by the Ashburton Domain Committee to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Domains and iP&ivks Superintendents’ conference at Oamaru from February 4 to February 7.
Mr J. Shaw has been elected to the Ashburton Borough and County Zone Patriotic executive in place of the late Dr. G. I. Miller. An extra representative for the Ashburton district has been arranged' for by the Canterbury Patriotic Council and is to be filled by the County Council.
A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Dr. G. I. Miller was carried in silence at a. meeting of the Ashburton Fanciers’ Society last evening. A similar motion was canned at a meeting of this committee of the .East Ashburton Swimming Club last evening.
The Mayor (Dr. J. Connor) and the Town Clerk (Mr R. C. Major) have been appointed to represent the Ashburton Borough Council at the annual conference of the New Zealand Municipal Association to lie held at Auckland from March 3 toi March 6. Mr Major will attend a conference of the Town Clerks Institute on Maxell 3.
The Rev. H. S. Hamilton (Vicar of St. John’s Anglican Church, Woolston) and the Rev. W. S ! . Southward (Vicar of the (Holy Trinity Church, Avonside) visited 1 Ashburton, yesterday! making final arrangements with the Rey. C. L. Mountfort for the Bible Class camp to be held at the Borough School during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
