THE ASHBURTON MARKET. Prices at the fruit and produce market at Ashburton on Friday were as follow: . Cabbages—3d and 4d. . 6d to 7s 6d a sack. Potatoes—ls 9d sugar-bag, 4s sack, v ;Wheat-Hlßs, 20s to 22s a sack. Honey—9d to Is lb. Onions—4d per lb.. Apples—Delicious 12s, Stnrmers 8s to-iOs,: cookers 7s 6d. and 3d each. Shallots —3d lb. .. WOOL FOR APPRAISEMENT.

HIGH QUALITY AT CHRISTCHURCH.

, CHRISTCHIJROH, This Day. The third, and so far most important. Wool. appraisement of the new season will- bo held in Christchurch on Tuesday, when about 17,000 bales will he placed before the valuers. An appraisement .was .held early last month, when a 'small catalogue was presented, and the first of..the season was the August crnteliing sale, which was included in this season’s fixtures.

The offering for next week contains a large proportion of hogget wool, and in' this season’s fixtures. . < v ' ' 'The offering for next week contains a large proportion of hogget wool, and in ( this respect corresponds fairly closely to a normal first sale. A few earlyshoni’ ewe clips will also be offered, but the main bulk of the ewe wool will 'not be ready for valuing until later.

However, in spite of many appeals, most stores report that there has been little, if an f y ? improvement in this respect.

Quotations remain unchanged, except that April-May-June potatoes are reported to be talked of at up to £5 ss, an increase of os on business reported last week. Little or no actual business has passed in potatoes. Wheat—Milling, f.o.b. Tuscan, 5s lid,, Hunters 6s Id, Pearl 6s 3d, Marquis 6s sd. (Final payment of 3d a bushel on all wheat at the end of the year). Oats—A Gartons 3s 9d to 4s, Bs 3s 3d to 3s 6d; Algerians 3s 6d to 3s 9d; Dpris 4s to. 4s 6d, according to sample.
