(Received This Dav, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, November 26
Losses of British, Allied and neutral mercantile shipping due to enemy action in the week ended Sunday, November 18, totalled 59,534 tons—less than the average for tho whole war, but considerably less than the average since the intensified attack began at the end of May. The total is made up of 14 British ships, of 50,449 tons, two Allied ships, of 7769 tons, and one neutral ship of 1316 tons.
The Germans claim to. have sunk in the same period 131,340 tons—an exaggeration of 120 per cent.—British Official Wireless. i
It is authoritatively stated that it should not be inferred from the reduced shipping losses that we have overcome the menace from both submarines and air attacks, but it felt that we will eventually conquer the problems.
