MECCANO CLUB.
WEEK-END ACTIVITIES The. eleventh birthday of the Ashburton Meccano Club was observed on Saturday evening, when tliei'O' was a display of models in the Baring Square -Methodist Church Sunday Schoolroom. It was also parents’ evening. Mr C. Bishop (president) presided. Mr A. A. McDonald congratulated the Club on its year’s work and assured the boys of the support of the Rotary Club. Twelve members of the Christchurch Meccano Club were present and Mr Stringer spoke. The Osborne Cup for model building of an engineering type was won by Malcolm Cunneen. An aggregate cup for the highest points in all competitions during the year was won by Nigel Watson, and the-Kruse Recruiting Cup went, to Malcolm Cunneen. Christchurch were the winners of the Inter-Club Shield. An exhibition of fretwork was given by members and there were many entries in a stamp competition. Supper was served ai.t the conclusion of the evening, the cake being supplied by Mrs Coates. * The Christchurch visitors were entertained at a picnic in the Ashburton Riverbed yesterday and returned home by the evening express.
