RACECOURSE INCIDENT

DEMONSTRATION AT RANDWICK.

(United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, November 24.

One of the most hostile • demonstrations seen at Randwick occurred when Hash won the last race, the Leumeah Handicap, at the Warwick Farm meeting, after failing earlier in the Horsley Handicap. The ringleader of the demonstration was being escorted by the police into the privacy of the weighing enclosure when newspaper photographers at tempted to photograph the incident. A committeeman of the Australian Jockey Club soiigth to prevent them, but a crowd of men hustled the police, shouting protests at the committeeman. Fists began to fly, but the police got their man into the room and charged him with offensive behaviour.

His indignation, which was shared, by a large section of the crowd, originated when Final Victory was hopelessly left at the post in the second race (the Hexton Park Stakes), and culminated after the Hash incident in the last race. One of liis exclamations was: “I am going to show up this facing business. We are being fobbed.” To this sympathisers roared approval.
